Lo-fi Films Box Design

Country: Canada

My role ━

Lead Designer for Packaging Design

LoFi Films produces beautifully curated collectible films, each packaged in a custom-designed box that reflects the soul of the story inside. My task was to create a series of unique packaging designs, ensuring that each box conveyed the tone, mood, and visual identity of its specific film while still feeling part of the same premium collection.

The project objective was to create packaging that not only protected the film but also visually captured each variant’s unique personality, aligning with the brand’s storytelling-driven identity.

Creative Challenge ━

Creative Process ━

1. Immersing in Each Film’s Atmosphere

I studied the story, setting, and mood of each film in detail — analyzing color palettes, textures, and visual motifs that could translate into compelling packaging. My approach was to treat each film like its own little world that the box could visually hint at.

2. Concept Development

Each box design began with an exploration of the film’s unique atmosphere — from genre and era to emotional tone. I translated these creative insights into carefully crafted prompts for advanced AI-assisted illustration tools, fine-tuning every detail until the imagery perfectly captured the intended vibe.

From there, I refined the visuals, adjusting composition, color, and texture to integrate seamlessly into the packaging templates. A key challenge was aligning every element so that, once folded, the box formed a continuous, immersive scene — turning each package into an extension of the film experience itself.

3. Perfecting the Fold

One of the most satisfying details of the project was ensuring that when the boxes are folded, all elements align seamlessly to form a continuous scene. This meant precise adjustments to the artwork positioning, bleed areas, and template layout so that every edge connection felt intentional.

Final results ━

The final designs are as collectible as the films themselves. Each box is a small piece of cinematic art — unique, story-driven, and visually immersive. When displayed together, the boxes create a visually diverse yet unified collection that strengthens LoFi Films’ identity as a boutique, artistic brand.

Feedback ━

This project was a highly collaborative and creative process. I was able to not only execute the client’s vision but also enhance it with my own ideas and design flair. The positive feedback confirmed that my contributions added originality and depth, making the final results stand out. It was a rewarding experience that I’m excited to build upon in future phases
